SHOULD CHRISTIAN REFUGEE CHILDREN BE ALLOWED TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?

Christian children in Iraq and Syria face deadly attacks by the Islamic State. Their need is both material and spiritual.

Christian children in Iraq and Syria face deadly attacks by the Islamic State. Their need is both material and spiritual.

Tens of thousands of Christian children and their families have fled from their homes in order to escape the merciless attacks of radical Islamic groups in Iraq and Syria. These well-educated and middle class Christian families now live in urban refugee centers with just one room or tent for the entire family.

While most children around the world are filled with excitement for the Christmas season, these children face terrible persecution, hunger, and exposure in the cold, winter nights. But you can help deliver some relief and Christmas joy to a child in need.

Each December since 2013, churches and private halls have been converted into festive venues to host thousands of Christian refugee children for a day of Christmas celebration.  Each event provides the children with

  • A culturally-traditional Christmas meal
  • Games
  • Gospel-themed puppet show
  • Christmas songs
  • One children’s Bible
  • One adult Bible (for their parents)
  • A parcel of food staples or supply of hygeine items for the entire family

The Christmas for Refugees program was successfully launched in 2013 in Jordan and expanded to Lebanon in 2014 and Iraq in 2015. With your support, Christmas for Refugees will be able to assist even more Christian children who were forced from their ancestral homes on the Nineveh Plains, and who now live in refugee centers located in Kurdish areas.

Please help a Christian refugee child experience the joy and peace of Christmas this year.  Just $14.00 will provide one child with the Christmas program, including all food, entertainment, and transportation.

A gift of $64.00 will provide one child with the Christmas program and a package full of basic food staples (or hygiene materials) valued at $50.00 depending on area and need. All contributions are tax deductible as they will be run through the accounts of the Religious Freedom Coalition, which has had tax exempt status from the IRS for more than thirty years.

In 2016, the goal is to serve as many as 6,000 Christian children and their families for Christmas.

Please donate today as funds must be transferred to Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon well in advance. You can help a Christian refugee child escape the devastation of war and poverty by providing a day of Christmas celebration.
